What Nearfelt handles

You may use local recording without an account. Saved sounds, optical traces, titles, artwork and preferences are stored on your device. Camera frames are analyzed on-device and discarded; we do not save photos or video from pulse capture. Microphone recording starts only when you tap Record and ends when you stop, leave the app, or reach the recording limit. Watch heart-rate access is optional and separately requested on the watch.

If you create a connected account, we handle your email, display name, account identifier, acceptance of terms, invitations, connections, and the signals you explicitly send. Shared signals can include messages, expressive rhythms, heart-rate samples or audio. Closeness choices are private on your device. Optional Plus cloud backup uploads your library titles, traces and original sound to your own private Nearfelt account, only after you enable it. Backup does not share your library with connections. If you report a signal, its contents and your selected reason are available privately to Taoftware for review. Blocking records the person you blocked.

What is shared

Only mutually accepted connections can access signals exchanged within that connection. Unlinking or blocking ends connection access through the service. Blocking also prevents new invitations until you unblock. A person who has already saved, recorded or exported something you sent may retain their copy. Exporting or printing creates a copy outside Nearfelt that you control.

Service providers and payment

Supabase provides account authentication, database and private audio storage. Resend delivers app-branded sign-in email. RevenueCat processes purchase identifiers, subscription status and necessary app/device information to verify Apple or Google purchases and provide subscription support. Apple and Google handle payment; we do not receive your full payment-card details. Cloudflare hosts this public information website and processes ordinary network request information. Providers may process data in the United States and other countries under their terms and safeguards.

Nearfelt does not include advertising, sell health information, use heart recordings to train AI, or use health information for advertising. No public directory of your connections is provided. Native platform permissions do not imply permission to share recordings.

Security

Network requests use HTTPS. Connected data uses access policies, and sign-in credentials use protected platform storage in native apps. The service is not end-to-end encrypted: authorized service operations can process data. No system is perfectly secure. Keep invitation codes private and only share recordings you want another person to keep.

Retention and deletion

Local recordings remain until you delete them, erase app data or uninstall the app. Device backups may retain data according to your system settings. Connected data remains while your Nearfelt account and connection exist. Cloud backups remain until you delete a recording or your Nearfelt account. Stopping backup or ending Plus keeps existing backups available to restore or delete. A deletion marker prevents another device from uploading a deleted recording again; it contains an identifier and deletion date, rather than the recording. Offline deletion finishes when Nearfelt reconnects. In Settings → My account → Delete my Nearfelt account, you can remove your Nearfelt profile, connections, shared messages and uploaded audio, and cloud backups, and erase the local library. Shared authentication may be retained if you also use another Taoftware app. Store transaction records and provider backups may remain for their required operational, fraud-prevention or legal retention periods. Subscription cancellation is separate from deletion.

See account deletion instructions. You can request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy through support. Where applicable, you may also object to processing, withdraw optional consent, or complain to your local data-protection authority. We verify account ownership before acting and respond within applicable legal deadlines.

Children and changes

Connected accounts require age 13 or older and any higher minimum age required locally. Nearfelt is not offered as a children’s service. If we learn that a child below the applicable minimum age provided account information, we will remove it. Tell us if this occurred. Material changes to this policy will be dated here and communicated in the app where required.
